2023 UNDER-17 SELECTS FESTIVALS TOURNAMENT REPORT:
Tournas was one of the most impressive prospects at this event. His size and skill scream professional upside. He is a skilled puckhandler who can dance and deke around defenders and goaltenders for scoring chances and goals. He also boasts a rocket of a shot with a pro-ready release and very strong accuracy. He has a shooter mentality and a serious scorer's mind. He is strong on pucks and very slick. He is smart and positions in good places to pick-off passes and make big defensive plays. He's beginning to use his body a little bit more as a physical threat too, which will add a new element to his game. His skating is fine, although he can work to get a step or two quicker.
Advice: Niko is ready for junior hockey. His size, skill, and scoring ability will translate to the next level and he can avoid the U-18 coursework. He should be playing against bigger, stronger competition, and should learn to scorer and contribute with and against older opponents. He should continue to work on his skating so that he can take another step in his development.
