NCDC PLAYOFF PREVIEW: MOUNTAIN DIVISION

Will the first-place Ogden Mustangs reach the Dineen Cup, or should the Mountain Division be on upset alert?

The junior hockey playoff season is upon us, and the first league to enter its end of the year tournament is the National Collegiate Development Conference (NCDC). The 18-team league is forced to take a unique approach to its playoff due to off-season expansion that birthed a “Western Conference.”

The best four teams in the West (or, the Mountain Division) will battle until one earns a spot in the Dineen Cup National Championship.

The four remaining teams in the Mountain Division include the Ogden Mustangs (1), Utah Outliers (2), Provo Predators (3), and the Idaho Falls SpudKings (4). The Pueblo Bulls finished fifth in the conference, one point away from a playoff birth, while the Rock Springs Grizzlies ranked last in the entire NCDC.

The first round of the playoffs on the West Coast will consist of two, best of five semi-final series, followed a “Divisional Final.” The title round is also a best of five series, and the winner will travel east to compete for the Dineen Cup.

Below you will find our preview of the Western Conference playoffs. We will also predict our NCDC Dineen Cup Champion.
